Do your little bit of good where you are

it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world

About Travel Blog Bohalista

Bohalista was realized in October 2013, as a personal lifestyle blog. At first, there was the idea that everything had to be some form of fabulous to succeed. But since life isn’t all ‘rainbows and unicorns, there is no point in wanting everything to be perfect all the time. Therefore, you might find errors, spelling mistakes, and typos. Furthermore, this website has changed into a travel blog with a focus on sustainable tourism and above all anything tight to the oceans. Because sometimes, you don’t have any other choice than to follow the waves of the crazy thing called life.

For me, personally, that meant to listen to my heart and change some things about my personal circumstances, but also for example the core focus Bohalista. Instead of writing about beauty, fashion and lifestyle, I try to write about the things that I love so much; our earth and our oceans. They are two of the elements that give us beauty and magic life has to offer and I am so thankful for it every day. I have lived in four different countries and traveled through many more, but it is always the elements of life that keep me fascinated and curious to explore. And only because of the perfect balance of these elements we can enjoy all the good and the bad that life has to offer.

It’s something that I am immensely grateful for. That is because for me traveling means the luxury of exploring life from inside and outside. Yet, sustainability and travel are two things that don’t seem to go together very well. It namely has a bad impact on the health of our source of life and the home at which we live, but also in many ways, that we are not always aware of. Yet if you take people, nature, and culture into account, we can reduce our footprint indeed in order to limit the negative effects of tourism.

Nowadays, this is important, especially if we want to continue traveling and enjoying all the beauty and magic. Thankfully, small steps in changing one’s lifestyle daily can consequently result in big and long-term changes. And besides, it is not really all about finding a balance?

Conscious, ecological and green traveling

You will be inspired by experiences that are in contact with nature on this travel blog. Therefore, themes are divided into outdoor and nature, wildlife, cities to discover, and of course the beach. Furthermore, you will also find tips on hidden gems and charming accommodations. And of course, you’ll discover some of the finest restaurants and other nice hotspots, at home and abroad. Contact with the local population and respect for the earth and the environment is always a central topic in addition to the themes. On the other hand, you will also be informed of useful gadgets and products on this travel blog.

There is attention for natural cosmetics and skin care and green interior accessories and other ecological products. And besides, you will also find practical tips on making conscious choices during day-to-day life. You must go on a green journey and are conscious when you stay at home after all. Because just like change, sustainability starts with yourself. And even small steps will help to tackle big goals. Therefore, my vision is to create awareness not only, but also to take action. If you want to make the world a better place you first have to be the change you want to see. In fact, we should all drastically change our habits to keep our earth healthy. Especially if we want to keep the diversity of life it supports.

Lessons and stories from an expat life

Sometimes it`s difficult to explain that you actually saw a unicorn, but the life of an ex-pat is just about that. It’s a life full of ups and downs, but teaches you many lessons and brings along so many stories to write about. On this travel blog you will find practical tips about moving abroad, but also about returning home. There are also many personal travel stories about different destinations in the world to read about. Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living. It ensures that you come back full of stories and enthusiasm. And particularly a personal travel blog is the perfect way to express all this. So explore dream, and wander with me around the globe.

Audience and collaborations
Bohalista is a fast-growing and strategically important ‘niche’ within the travel industry. It focuses on creating high-quality and in-depth content. Yet, responsible tourism remains a complicated concept. Not only are readers looking for responsible travel options, but also for reliable information that they can trust. More and more people want to read about authentic and personal experiences. They are looking for stories especially from travelers just like them. And in addition, are they searching on how to achieve sustainability in day-to-day lives too. Thus it is the goal to inspire travelers for embracing sustainable travel, as well as an eco-friendly lifestyle to look after our world.

Hopefully, this becomes the norm for everybody. Therefore, the aim is to work with brands whose mission is to make the world a better place. Destinations and brands are presented in an authentic and engaging way. This can be through reviews, articles, and for example social media exposure. Furthermore, this website is growing completely organically (proud). Readers are travel buffs and green living enthusiasts who are foodies, beauty mavens, and value shoppers. They are aged 25+ and mainly based in the Netherlands. Most of them are female (70%) and love to learn about new inspiring and positive-impact initiatives.
