Do your little bit of good where you are;
it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.
Bohalista was realized in October 2013, as a personal lifestyle blog of Nena (you can read more about me on the page ‘About the Girl‘. At first, I started the blog with the idea that I had to be some form of fabulous personality to succeed in what I wanted to do. But now I realize that life isn’t all “rainbows and unicorns” and certainly doesn’t have to be perfect all the time. Therefore, I just try to be my own crazy self including all the good and bad.
Over the years Bohalista has changed into a personal travel blog, where I focus on sustainable tourism. Sustainability and travel are two things that don’t seem to go together very well. But if you take people, nature, and culture into account, we can reduce our footprint indeed. And only then can we limit the negative effects of tourism and continue to enjoy all the beauty that the world has to offer us.
You’ll find all the articles ever written here. Enjoy!
Conscious, ecological and green traveling
I love to write about experiences where I am in contact with nature and about the authentic life and traditions of the places I visit. Themes are divided into outdoor and nature, wildlife, cities to discover and of course the beach. Furthermore, you will also find tips on hidden gems, charming accommodations, fine restaurants, and other nice hotspots, at home and abroad.
Contact with the local population and respect for the earth and the environment are always a central topic. But on personal travel blog Bohalista, you will also find practical tips for making conscious choices during day-to-day life. You will, therefore, be kept informed of ecological products, useful gadgets for traveling, natural cosmetics and skincare, as well as green interior accessories.
After all, it is important that you not only go on a green journey but also are consciously when you stay at home. Because just like change, sustainability starts with yourself. Therefore, my vision is to take action, create awareness and be the change you want to see to make the world a better place. We should, in fact, drastically change our habits. But even small steps will help to tackle big goals.
Lessons and stories from an expat life
Because I have lived in Italy, Turkey, and Bulgaria, I have experienced many hilarious and special situations as an expat. Sometimes it`s difficult to explain that you actually saw a unicorn, but the life of an expat is just about that. It’s a life full of ups and downs, but teaches you many lessons and brings along so many stories to write about. On Bohalista you will find practical tips about moving abroad, but also about returning home.
There are also many personal travel stories about different destinations in the world to read about. Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living. It ensures that you come back full of stories and enthusiasm. And particularly a personal travel blog is the perfect way to express all this. So explore, dream and wander with me around the globe.
Inspire people to travel and live more sustainably
With Bohalista I want to spread a bit of happiness and inspire to travel green and eco-friendly. Because travel helps to develop a global mindset so you will be able to conceptualize how to make an impact that is beneficial to local economies, respectful of the environment and sensitive to indigenous cultures.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful citizens can change the world;
indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
I think it’s very nice to hear from you. Questions, comments, tips, and feedback are more than welcome and highly appreciated. I am respectful and expect the same from my visitors. Audience and collaborations
Bohalista is a fast-growing and strategically important “niche” within the travel industry. Responsible tourism remains a complicated concept. But more and more people want to read about authentic and personal experiences from other travelers just like them. Not only are my readers looking for responsible travel options and reliable information that they can trust, but they are also searching on how to achieve sustainability in day-to-day lives.
With this personal travel blog, I want to inspire travelers to embrace sustainable travel and an eco-friendly lifestyle to look after our world. And I hope this becomes the norm for everybody. Therefore, my aim is to work with brands whose mission is to make the world a better place. Bohalista focuses on creating high quality and in-depth content. Through reviews, articles and social media exposure, I present destinations and brands in an authentic and engaging way.
I am proud to tell you that the audience of Bohalista is growing completely organically. Readers are travel buffs, green living enthusiasts, foodies, beauty mavens, and value shoppers.
